History:
We would like to welcome you to the EMS section of the iaff3786.com website.
Since 2001, Washington Township has been a leader in the delivery of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in the area.
Our Fire Department based EMS system runs about 1300 EMS calls a year, ranging from fractures, to major motor vehicle accidents. Also, since we are a fire based service, our career firefighter/EMT members are cross trained to be able to perform tasks as both a firefighter and an EMT.
In the system, it is common that on a working fire, the two members of the ambulance, after determining there are no injured parties, will put on their firefighting gear and help the engine crew complete their tasks.
This is a huge benefit for the township as we have competent employees who are able to perform two tasks.
Before 2001, EMS was being delivered to the township by the all volunteer Allentown First Aid Squad.
As with most EMS services, calls rise every year, and in 2001 Allentown First Aid Squad was not able to meet the demands of both Allentown and Washington. The town council approached the Fire Department about taking on this new role, and the Fire Department gladly accepted. The Fire Department has been committed to a high level of standards when it comes to patient care. We have consistently been one of the best EMS services in not only the area, but the state. We are proud to serve you, and we want you to be as proud knowing you will be well taken care of when you see the Washington Township Ambulance.
Recently, Washington Township and Hightstown Borough have reached an agreement for Washington Township Fire Department EMS to provide service to the residents of Hightstown Borough.
Washington Township Fire Department now staffs an additional ambulance which is stationed out of the Hightstown First Aid Squad building on Bank Street in Hightstown.
We look forward to providing the same high level of service that Washington residents have come to know in Hightstown.
